WHAT TO EXPECT

Welcome

If you have found my website then you or your child might be struggling and need help.

As a counsellor, my role is to provide a confidential, safe, and calm space where you can share your thoughts and feelings, and together, we can explore your situation. I understand that reaching out for therapy can feel daunting—it takes courage to open up to someone new about deeply personal matters.

Through building trust in the therapeutic relationship, therapy can offer you greater self-awareness and a deeper understanding of your relationships. As an integrative counsellor, I tailor my approach to suit you as an individual, drawing on techniques from various therapeutic models to address your unique needs and challenges.

CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE

When working with children and young people, I often incorporate games, art, and other creative activities to help them feel at ease. These tools can be particularly effective because children and adolescents sometimes find it difficult to express their feelings or articulate their challenges through words alone. For adolescents who are comfortable with conversation, sessions may be more discussion-based, allowing us to explore their concerns in a way that feels natural to them.

My approach is always tailored to the individual. Together, we identify the root causes of their difficulties and develop strategies that suit their unique needs, rather than applying a one-size-fits-all solution.

I focus on creating a safe and supportive environment where they feel free to express themselves at their own pace. I follow a child-led approach, allowing them to guide the process. This fosters a sense of safety and trust, making it more effective than pressuring them to discuss specific issues before they are ready.

Therapy should never feel intimidating or overwhelming. It should be a welcoming, non-judgmental space where children and teenagers can explore their emotions in a way that feels manageable and comfortable. Whether through play, creativity, or conversation, my goal is to provide an environment where they can process their feelings and experiences on their own terms.

Counselling for Adults, Adolescents and Children

About Me

I am passionate about helping people through difficult times.   I offer face-to-face or online sessions in Henley-on-Thames.

Before training to be a counsellor, I spent years working in the corporate world, never feeling satisfied or passionate. I began volunteering and discovered it brought me a sense of deep joy and purpose.

Having turned to counselling at a time of crisis in my own life and seeing the benefits of it, I decided to retrain.  Those years of studying, although difficult, further fueled my interest in therapy and you will often find me listening to podcasts or doing further reading around this fascinating subject.

I am currently working as a counsellor in a secondary school whilst also managing my private practice.

I have completed Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills, Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies and a Level 7 Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of East London.

I am fully DBS checked and hold professional indemnity insurance.

I am a Registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and adhere to their ethical guidelines and codes of conduct and best practise.

I receive regular clinical supervision from a UKCP accredited supervisor to maintain best practise and to ensure my work is of a high standard.

INITIAL CONSULTATION

The first step is to contact me by email. I offer a free 20 minute initial telephone conversation. At this initial contact, if you choose, we can arrange a session face-to-face either in person or on Zoom.  There is no commitment to ongoing sessions at this stage. At the consultation we can think about how we might work together and if counselling would be beneficial for you or your child.
